Knight of Discs

Hello everyone, I thought you might like to see one of my new court cards. Since I last posted I have been working on the Majors and slowly redoing the ones I needed to redo. Also life has been getting in the way somewhat, demanding change. Strangely it has all reached a kind of crisis of decision making as I started to plan The Lovers card. Typical really of how synchronous the process has been. In any case the last thing I intend to do at this stage is give up. This deck will manifest.

I am still publishing Major arcana cards in the journal of The Society of Inner Light.

This coming edition will have The Devil and Hanging in it! Somehow also very appropriate to what I am going through at the moment. Time is coming up to renew my domain name and I am wondering whether to keep it. Not sure I really want to be a Magdalene. Other peoples interpretations of this are often not what I intend. What do you guys think?

    Hi there,

Love the new card. The Knight of Discs has such a quality of reliabitlity about him. He’s determined to see things through, much as you are about continuing with your deck progress.
As for the name Magdalene, I like it, why not keep it? You may regret changing it…

  2. Hello Sarah
Good to see some new work from you and your knight has strong energy about him. His shield has a mesmerising quality to me :)
If you hadn’t been a Magdalene, I probably would never have found you as I was researching Mary Magdalene when your site came up. I had done a lot of work with the Toth deck and previously the Rider Waite but it was your paintings which inspired me to write poems for the Major Arcana.
Good luck for the rest of the deck:)

  3. Love the new card, glad to see you’re not giving up on the deck! As far as the name, only you can decide if it still fits you or not.

Hello Sarah! First, a HUGE belated congratulations for having your work published in the Journal of the Society of Inner Light. I looked the Journal up when your post alerted us to your forthcoming publication, but never got around to saying Bravo! Life has been getting in the way somewhat here too.

Now, your work of art (literally!) – I adore it. Especially the way you have deliberately avoided using the ‘fiery’ colours which have conventionally been used to represent the fiery part of Earth. Your interpretation is, I believe, in accord with the true meaning of the card: the Fire in the element of Earth but with Earth suppressing Fire … and, hence, Lord of the wild and fertile (green) land.

The synchronicity certainly is persisting. Although often representing a person having influence over another’s financial situation, the Knight of Discs is really about the other: spending time assessing the ways in which you spend your money and whether what is happening regarding your material resources is going the way you want it to.

As for your rumination regarding the name Magdalene, again it is about you. What you wish for. We all too often do things (including change) simply because of other peoples’ expectations/interpretations. In the end, it is about being true to yourself.

Lots of love to you, dear friend.
